JOB TITLE: Development Chemist / Graduate Development Chemist
SALARY & BENEFITS: circa GBP30,000 plus pension and private medical care

What's more our client is not only people kind but animal kind too! Products are not tested on animals and contain no ingredients derived from animals. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified / graduate Development Chemist to join their existing team.
THE ROLE: As a Development Chemist / Graduate Development Chemist you will work in the laboratory in a team of Development Chemists and report to the Technical & Laboratory Manager. You will be responsible to completing laboratory development work on our clients manufactured products. You will develop new and improved cleaning products for our client under the Astonish and retailer brands. You will also investigate new sources or existing chemicals and recommend approval or rejection and provide technical support to customers, distributors and the business as needed.
Key Responsibilities for the Development Chemist / Graduate Development Chemists role in Bradford, West Yorkshire include:
- Deliver new or improved products to cost, quality & time constraints, via laboratory development work, on projects agreed with the Technical and Laboratory Manager
- Create new cleaning products and formulations, and also ensure the chemical, physical and microbiological stability of new and existing formulations
- Identify and assesses new materials and technologies via application within product formulations and check quality of products and formulations
- Work safely and ensure chemicals are handled and stored correctly and that Health & Safety guidelines are adhered to
- Manage and oversee projects for new products and work independently
- Investigates customer complaints and technical enquiries, as agreed with the Technical and Laboratory Manager
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Development Chemist / Graduate Development Chemists role must be a Chemistry graduate with relevant qualification and must have working experience within a laboratory, ideally in making formulations for cleaning products although this is not essential. You must live within and be able to commute to Bradford, West Yorkshire and have an excellent understanding of Health & Safety regulations within a Laboratory.
Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Development Chemist / Graduate Development Chemists role in Bradford, West Yorkshire:-
- Chemistry graduate with relevant qualification/degree is essential
- Must have previous working experience in a Laboratory setting
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety, chemical handling, storing of chemicals is essential
- Ability to manage projects and work using your own initiative is essential
- Although not essential, any previous experience working with Cleaning Products and Chemicals is an advantage
