WEC Group have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated HR Advisor, who wishes to join a dynamic and rapidly expanding engineering firm based in Darwen, Lancashire.  You will join us on a 12 months contract to cover maternity leave. We are offering the successful HR Advisor an excellent salary and benefits package of £20,000 – £22,000 per annum.

Established for over 35 years and now one of the North West’s leading multi award winning Engineering companies, WEC Group Ltd is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic HR Advisor to join our busy team commencing on 27th February 2017.  

HR Advisor Responsibilities:

- The HR Advisor will be responsible for supporting the Human Resources and Recruitment function by:

- Providing first point of contact for all generalist HR queries

- Provide HR advice, tools and support for managers on all HR policies and procedures. Ensuring all issues are handled in a timely and professional manner and in accordance with company policies and employment legislation.

- To coach line managers in all areas including disciplinary and grievance, and performance improvement.

- Research employment law and HR Best Practice to ensure advice and guidance given is accurate and up to date. Ensure all policies, procedures and legal requirements are updated and adhered to.

- Provide advice on processes including remuneration and benefits, providing procedural advice and assistance in these areas

- To assist with compiling regular HR Management Information and to assist in identifying trends that support informed decision making.

- To provide general administration and efficient support service as required including maintaining employee records and database, HR spreadsheets, providing telephone support, preparation of letters and responding to external requests ensuring confidentiality of all written and verbal communication

- Assist with ensuring the HR processes are executed to time i.e payroll deadlines and performance management plans

- Proactively manage employees who are long term sick, on maternity/ paternity or absent

- Develop and maintain HR related documentation e.g. policies, procedures, handbooks, recruitment agency agreements

- Draft internal communications  and liaise with the marketing department to engage all employees throughout the Group

- Work closely with the Training Manager and local Training Provider to assist in the apprenticeship programme and the introduction of the new Apprentice Levy

- Support general HR administration

- Supporting of the recruitment process from start to finish

- Any other ad hoc duties

Knowledge, Skills, Experience needed to become our HR Advisor:

- Have proven relevant experience in an employee facing HR role

- Have and be able to demonstrate sound understanding of most HR disciplines including employee relations, reward and benefits, HR reporting, HR systems, learning and development and recruitment.

- Be able to demonstrate effective coaching, consultation, communication and negotiation skills across all key relationships and be able to build effective working relationships.

- Pragmatic approach with experience of working with complex problems / 'grey' situations

- Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), and a time and attendance system

- Be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge and understanding of key HR theories and HR best practice

- Understand and be aware of current and forthcoming employment legislation changes and be aware of the implications for the Group.

- Ability to organise and prioritise workload and to work to tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

- Must be a strong team player with the ability to step in to assist with all areas as required.

- Driving license and own vehicle due to travelling to other local sites

HR Advisor Working Hours: Monday- Friday 8.30am-5pm (40 hours per week)
