Design Engineer

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and professional Design Engineer to produce contract drawings and bills of materials for their production facilities. You will create new options to meets their customers' needs and to provide engineering support to all engineering departments and production facilities within the group.

Experience Knowledge & Skills - Essential

*Experience of mechanical design using 3D CAD design

*Experience of working in the engineering field

*Experience of working in a commercial environment

*Methodical & structured approach to problem solving

*Capable of organising and retrieving historic data.

*PC literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Key Accountabilities:

*Issue drawings and bills of material to the factory and customers using the CAD system

*Interpret customer requirements and internal specifications and produce a detailed design using 3D CAD (Unigraphics NX would be preferable)

*Produce secondary designs required for specific customers which are outside the standard Models & Options system

*Work with global manufacturing on urgent issues regarding design and production to produce solutions to everyday problems

*Prepare detailed specifications documentation and drawings using product data management systems (M & O system)

*Produce new designs of specific options & trial them through the Prototype Department before adaptation into M & O system.

*Liaison with customers, Sales, Contracts and global Operations staff to deliver customer requirements within timescales, budgets and operations constraints

*Take on tasks and projects in support of current product engineering, e.g. product improvements and ECRs

*Taking existing designs & formulating effective cost savings which can be implemented into production

*Work to ISO 9001 quality standards

*Ability to thrive in a high pressure and developing environment. The ability to continuously improve standards & quality of the department.

*To conduct site visits and investigations

Location:

*The role will be based at Thame in the UK, although travel within the UK and overseas may be required.

Secondary Activities / Tasks

*To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service of the Department.

*Taking existing designs & formulating effective cost savings which can be implemented into production

*To contribute to the continuous improvement in standards and quality of the services delivered by the Department

*Health & Safety - adherence to all Company Health & Safety Policies, Procedures and Safe Working Practices.

Desirable Skills:

*Experience of Unigraphics NX CAD and TeamCentre PDM/PLM tools

*Electrical experience is preferred

*International experience, particularly beneficial with Far East.

*Experience working with off-site designers

*Advanced problem solving skills (i.e. FMEA, Ishikawa)

*Design for manufacturing experience

*Project planning and execution including reporting and risk management

*Experience of designing electrical switchgear components.

Qualifications

*HNC Mechanical and / or Valid Electrical Engineering or similar

*UK driving licence

*Degree in Mechanical and or Electrical engineering or similar - Desirable
