Founded in 1791, The St Marylebone CE School is a successful comprehensive school for girls with a mixed sixth form, serving students of all faiths or no faith.

We are looking to appoint a freelance Theatre Technician on a self-employed basis, to provide ad hoc technical support services to our Performing Arts Department as required.

We require technical preparation and support for curricular and extra-curricular activities (school performances, rehearsals, performance based exams), for the Performing Arts Faculty, including set and theatre preparation, pre-show rigging, lighting, sound and show operation.

The requirement will be for approximately 220 hours over the academic year. Hours will vary according to the Department's schedule of events but will be agreed on an annual basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Help create/ build the set.
Rig, focus and create the lighting for shows.
Rig and create sound effects and amplification as necessary.
To pre show check, reset and operate shows as required.
To hire equipment as agreed and manage budget given.
To carry out first line maintenance as required.
To maintain systems and technical areas in good clean, orderly and tidy working order.
To attend rehearsals and production meetings as required.


LOCATION

The School is situated in a prime Central London location on Marylebone High Street with excellent transport links. Nearest tube stations: Baker Street, Regents' Park, Bond Street. Nearest train stations: Paddington, Marylebone, Euston.

PERSON SPECIFICATION


Experience of working in a professional theatre in a lighting and sound capacity.
Proven ability to program and operate lighting and sound systems (presently you must be able to program the Leapfrog Zero 88).
Previous experience in and working knowledge of setting up staging.
Experience of setting up and operating projection systems.
The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, including understanding and responding to visual oral and written instructions and to be self motivated and work well as part of a team under minimum supervision.
The ability to work calmly under pressure achieving the necessary deadlines.
Knowledge of fundamental electrical practice and theory.
The ability to work at height using the appropriate access equipment safely.
To have a general knowledge of H&S.
To have some experience in Lighting Design.
A friendly and enthusiastic team-player.
Flexibility to support our events schedule.
