The Department of Pathology has vacancies for part-time, early morning or evening Domestic Assistant position/s based at its site in central Cambridge with responsibilities for cleaning, portering and general housekeeping. Duties will include cleaning offices, laboratories, meeting rooms, canteen, lavatories and other communal areas.

The hours we can offer are 20 hours per week, 6.00am to 10.00am or 4.00pm to 8.00pm, Monday to Friday, actual working hours to be agreed. The posts are managed through the Department's Facilities Office.

A Domestic Services Supervisor coordinates the day-to-day activities of each Assistant. The Department is split across two sites, and on occasions the post holder will be required to provide cover at its other site in Addenbrooke's Hospital. Experience of cleaning and an NVQ 1 or 2 in Cleaning Methods would be helpful, although full training will be given.

Good communication skills are essential, along with the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions and to understand user and safety instructions regarding the use of chemicals.

Due to the nature of the work, you will need to have a good level of physical fitness. A welcoming manner, reliability, professionalism and a high level of attention to detail are also required.
