Software Designer (API)

Oliver James Associates are working with a leading insurer, who deliver insurance, savings and investment products to over 31 million customers, undergoing an exciting Digital change, of which you could be at the forefront. The client is looking for a Software Designer to join the API team.

The successful Software Designer will be responsible for:

• Designing high quality RESTful APIs which are easy to change and test.
• Designing and developing resource data models and interface standards for APIs, as the Software Designer.
• Ensuring SOLID/KISS principles are followed.
• Leading API Design from stakeholder management to estimation of delivery, build and test.
• Undertaking design reviews to ensure systems meet functional and non-functional requirements, as the Software Designer.
• Ensuring application roadmaps are in place and governing against them.

The successful Software Designer will have:

• Expertise in Java Development and similar frameworks (Spring, Junit, Cucumber, Jenkins, Maven).
• Experience in developing with RedHat FUSE, Apache ServiceMix or Apache Camel, as the Software Designer.
• Experience in designing, building and supporting RESTful APIs, with a knowledge and interest in industry trends.
• Agile Software Architecture knowledge, as the Software Designer.
• Experience working in large teams with a shared codebase and designing/building for maintainability.
