JOB TITLE: Mechanical Assembly Operative

SALARY & BENEFITS: Dependant on Experience

WORKING HOURS: Monday - Thursday 8-5 & Friday 8-1 (overtime available)

THE COMPANY: Our client is an independent business unit that is responsible for the design and manufacture of a broad range of generators. These products are complimentary to their own Construction and Agricultural range and in appropriate sizes use their own engine range. They also allow their products to enter new market sectors as well as developing a wider distribution and customer base.

THE ROLE: An opportunity has arisen within the Production team for a mechanical assembly operative, at the Newtown facility. This will involve factory based assembly of diesel generators, including the assembly of engines to alternators, control wiring instrumentation and steel work.

Key Responsibilities of a Mechanical Assembly Operative to include:-

• Engine Build - Assembling Engine, Alternator & Radiator, Fitting of Mechanical & Electrical Options and wiring looms
• Main Build - Installing the Engine build into acoustic enclosures or onto open base frames. Fitting ancillary Steelwork.
• Maintain product continuity and quality.
• Work to Mechanical Drawings and Electrical Schematics.
• Follow and complete Job Traveller Paperwork.
• Work to Task List and Complete jobs using Software Based Production System.
• Work within company health and safety policies.
• Maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
• Assisting with other areas of production when necessary.
• Work within a team and follow instruction from the team leader.

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate will need to be a hard worker and able to work within a team and follow instructions. Ideally you will have a City & Guilds, NVQ, BTEC or equivalent in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering however if you have previous experience working within a similar role this is not essential.

Key experience essential for the Mechanical Assembly Operative role:

• Experience of reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Mechanical Assembly Fitting.
• Experience of Electrical Wiring
• Working with Cranes & Power Tools
• Basic I.T skills, good communicator, numeracy skills.
• Experience in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering disciplines.
• Lives within a commutable distance to Newtown
