About the role

As an operational manager, assuming overall accountability for the one of Royal Mail's largest Delivery Office's you'll lead a team of approximately 177 employees supporting them through our exciting transformation journey. Working closely alongside trade union representatives, you'll ensure your team understands the commercial and competitive market we are in. They'll need to be customer focussed, open to new technology and flexible to change. Utilising your first-rate change management experience, you'll be responsible for ensuring the performance and for meeting the budgetary targets of the unit, quality of service for our customers and the overall safety of the people you manage.

You will be the prime representative for your office and actively promote customer service opportunities whilst having a strong track record of delivering performance through your personal leadership of large teams in a changing and very challenging operational environment.

About you

In our operation people are our biggest asset! If you can lead, motivate and inspire people to achieve great things even in the most challenging of circumstances then what are you waiting for?

But wait, you will need a high level of emotional intelligence to go with this because remember you are managing people and you will need to engage them to create a winning team to support you. You will also have a passion to consistently improve results helping us to drive relentless change for the benefit of our people and our customers.

You'll provide coaching and advice, while keeping the whole operation running smoothly. Your experience might be within retail, FMCG or logistics, but your ability to lead a large team of employees including managers is what we are looking for. With a budget of GBP5.9m, you'll have an eye for detail and be confident in efficiently managing resources and budgets - all with a view to ensuring your sector is working at its very best.

Testing

As part of the application process you may be required to complete a Numerical and Verbal Online test. If this is the case you will receive an email to the email address you have provided which will contain a link to the tests. You will have 48 hours to complete the tests from the date you receive the email and failure to do so will mean we will not be able to progress your application any further.

Note that the Numerical and Verbal Online tests will be used as part of the selection process and as such you will need to pass both tests in order for your application to progress to the next stage.

If you consider yourself to have a disability, medical condition or other reason that would require reasonable adjustments for these tests, you will have an opportunity to advise of the need for this. Please see the details when you access the link to the tests.
