EXPANDING ORGANISATION. RAPIDLY GROWING TURNOVER. Product Design Engineer required to join a pioneering organisation who develop high technology products for their marketplace.
The role represents an excellent opportunity to work as part of the Mechanical Design function within a multi-disciplined engineering / research and development team contributing to the successful introduction and development of new product ranges.
PLEASE NOTE - The client is open to considering graduates with 12 months f experience gained from an industrial placement / sandwich year or 12 months of post-graduate experience.
Salary: GBP23,000 - GBP26,000 (dependent on experience) + Pension, etc.
The Role: The Product Design Engineer will report into the Senior Product Design Engineer onsite and will work alongside them to assist in areas such as Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Prototyping and Testing as well as producing technical drawings and documentation.
Responsibilities will include:
* Undertaking product design activities utilsiing SolidWorks (3D and 2D)
* Ensuring designs are suitable for mass production / manufacture
* The Mechanical Design Engineer will be involved in the procurement of prototypes
* Testing and validation of prototype and pre-production parts
* The Product Design Engineer will ensure that all relevant project / technical documentation (drawings, technical files, change notes, test reports, etc.) are kept up to date and stored correctly
The Candidate: Product Design Engineer
* Experience within a manufacturing / product development environment is essential
* Must be degree qualified in a relevant field (Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, etc.)
* The Product Design Engineer must have 3D CAD design skills (ideally with SolidWorks)
* Experience of designing for high volume manufacture is desirable
* Familiarity with designing an electro-mechanical product is desirable
* The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have gained experience of working within a multi-disciplined engineering / development team
* Must be innovative and have excellent problem solving skills
* Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications is needed
