Overview

To provide a comprehensive generalist HR service to ensure that line managers are supported in all aspects of managing employee relations through the implementation of HR policies. To provide advice, support and administer all HR activities at the plant within the provisions outlined in the Equality Act 2010 to include absence management, disciplinary and grievance, terms and conditions of employment and recruitment activities.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities

* Provide advice and support to managers in line with the company disciplinary policy ensuring consistency across the plant.
* Provide advice and support in relation to absence management processes ensuring that employees with high levels of absence are managed fairly and consistently
* Ensure that managers complete RTW interviews and relevant documentation in a timely manner before the employee returns to their normal duties.
* Manage occupational health diary and refer employees as necessary, completing management referral forms in order to fully understand any restrictions or potential health issues and subsequent adjustments that the plant can make. Facilitate rehabilitation programmes as necessary.
* Liaise with Health & Safety in order to identify any employees requiring assessment relating to personal injury claims and progress any such referrals to Occupational Health or Physiotherapy provider.
* Undertake appropriate actions from resulting occupational health reports. Maintain detailed written audit trial for all cases in the event of on-going problem employee or legal defence required.
* Conduct regular absence audits to monitor compliance with absence control procedures. Provide reports to management on results and make recommendations for improvements.
* Develop human resource systems specifically to support analysis of absence patterns and trends that could shape future policy developments, and develop meaningful analysis and reporting which measures problems, identifies causes and recommends counter-measures.
* Provide advice and support for leave requests by ensuring compliance with the Family Friendly policies. Family Friendly provisions include Paternity Leave, Parental Leave, Time off for Dependants and Maternity Leave.
* Investigate requests for flexible working patterns from all employees for changes to terms and conditions.
* Identify, facilitate solutions and provide guidance to managers dealing with employment problems such as discipline, grievance, discrimination claims, personal problems etc, ensuring detailed notes trails in case of legal action.
* Undertake exit interviews and develop meaningful labour turnover analysis and reporting which measures problems, identifies causes and recommends counter-measures.
* Keep aware of legislative and best practice human resource solutions and employment law in order to develop, implement and evaluate regular training interventions on current issues and changes.
* Undertake project work and other reasonable duties or activities as required.
* Undertake recruitment and selection tasks including coordination of interviews, managing offers, writing contracts of employment having obtained all necessary approvals.
* Managing the new starter on-boarding process including giving first day HR inductions and orientation of the plant.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience necessary

* Previous HR experience within a busy manufacturing environment
* Excellent knowledge of HR policies & procedures.
* Computer literate, word, excel (essential) and HR Database Systems such as SAP (desirable).
* Sound knowledge of the principles of Employment Law in particular, statutory rights, Equality Act 2010, Discrimination & rights of individuals at work.
* Experience in interview skills & selection process in general.
* Experience in absence control procedures & managing absence in general.
* Qualified to CIPD or degree level in HRM.
