Application & Web Development Engineer

Training 2000 is a charitable trust set up by a consortium of Lancashire businesses and is now one of the largest Group Training Associations in England, with over 50 years' experience of delivering high quality work-based learning and training programmes to industry and individuals. We have grown to more than 250 staff and 6 centres across the North West and other areas of the UK, working with national employers across a wide range of sectors, whilst maintaining local support.

A challenging and exciting vacancy has arisen for an Application and Web Development Engineer within the ICT Department. This post is dedicated to enhancing and developing Training 2000’s digital presence from web and applications through to innovative teaching and learning developments utilising the latest technologies.

About the role:

The role will be key in the design, build and development of the company web, mobile and interactive technologies.

Within this role the successful candidate will develop their own knowledge and skills, working in conjunction with the ICT Team and engaging with other key stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions in line with the company’s overall strategy.

The successful candidate will need excellent communication and customer service skills to establish rapport across the company, interacting at all levels in a professional and supportive manner

Essential Requirements:

Previous experience in a software application/web role is essential

Strong knowledge and experience of:

• Programming languages including PHP, ASP.net, JAVA, mobile device platforms

• SQL and Advantage database software

• Digital design and development software e.g. Adobe products

• In depth knowledge of social media platforms and their exploitation

For this role, you must have an excellent understanding and experience of leading technical development projects from concept through to production. In addition, you must possess a deep passion for developing the use of technology within the workplace and education spaces through innovation and support.
