Our client operates a centralized category and business driven procurement function operating across four main direct material countries: situated in UK/Netherlands/Sweden/China, and some indirect regions. The Procurement function is structured as a matrix organization with centralized leadership for Direct Purchasing/ Indirect Purchasing/ Supplier Development & Quality, Process & Systems and the Local Management in each of the regions for direct and indirect material.

The requirement for Supplier Quality activities varies with site and as such this role may report into a Team Leader or into the local Head of Procurement. The role of Head of Supplier Development & Quality will drive the global direction of the SQA team through the direct management position.
The purpose of the role of SQA Engineer is to offer quality engineering support in order to optimize supplier quality in their supply chain. Work with suppliers to assure and improve the quality of products and services supplied to our client and its customers.
The role involves all stages of the product lifecycle, using customer, factory and supplier feedback to improve supplier quality.

Management of supplied material quality issues raised by the factory. Working with factory and suppliers to ensure problems are effectively resolved and investigations are fully documented. Effectively contain issues to minimise repeat issues affecting the factory. Instigate and implement effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPA). Where appropriate, develop quality plans with the suppliers and internally.
Continually aim to establish and implement activities which support the movement to a supplier quality regime which reduces the need for upstream inspection and testing activities.
Plan, conduct and fully document first article inspections on new and updated parts to ensure compliance to the drawing specification.
Working with suppliers, plan, conduct and document appropriate activities to assure the continued quality of parts. Typically achieved by auditing supplier inspection results, reviewing part, manufacturing, test and inspection processes at supplier's premises.
Take responsibility for closing identified supplier related NCR's in a sustainable and timely fashion
Management of supplied material quality issues raised by customers. Working with installed base and suppliers to ensure problems are effectively resolved and investigations are fully documented. Contain repeat issues affecting the installed base. Instigate and implement effective CAPA and where appropriate develop quality plans with the suppliers and engineering.
Conduct approval and surveillance audits in line with the requirements of ISO9001 or ISO13485 and the Quality Agreement in place with the supplier.
Where required, conduct part inspections, outsourced stores or supplier location. [UK, Sweden, China]
When required, carry out capability assessments of potential suppliers in response to internal Procurement strategy.
Provide quality management support to supplier re-sourcing programs
Provide technical support to supplier re-sourcing programs [UK}
Help identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation plans for business continuity
Support and contribute to the supplier approvals process
Participate in the PCP process as and when required
Work to and help develop and standardise the quality management system and process improvements in the other Product Supply Centres.
Where appropriate, promote and drive the use of global best practice quality assurance tools used by suppliers.
Where appropriate, write, issue, negotiate and agree supplier quality agreements.

Industrial work experience with a focus on Quality Systems and/or Supplier Quality Development.
An engineering qualification or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Lead auditor qualified.
Good interpersonal skills.
