Due to continuing business success and growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Assistant to work with our Safety team, providing timely advice and solutions on safety issues associated with port operations and developments.

Health and Safety Assistant key responsibilities:

Working as part of the Safety team, you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring all safety occurrences and prepare monthly statistical reports.
  • Organising and carrying out safety inspections and safety tours.
  • Assisting in developing safety procedures and guidance.
  • Assisting in the investigation of accidents and incidents as required.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of safety training and initiatives to improve safety.
  • Undertaking audits of the organisation, its partners, tenants and contractors.
  • Undertaking audits of the Board and its partners, tenants and contractors to provide assurance on the safety management system and safety risks.

The ideal Health and Safety Assistant:

The successful Health and Safety Assistant will currently possess a NEBOSH General Certificate in Safety or be working towards it, alongside good knowledge of safety legislation and experience of carrying out safety site inspections within a fast-paced environment. You will also need:

 

  • An understanding of investigation techniques.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft products.
  • Confident in delivering training courses/presentations.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbally.
  • Confident working as alone and as part of a team.
  • A full UK driving licence.
