Senior HR Officer - Employee Relations Team - Cheltenham

We are recruiting for a high calibre Senior HR Officer with a background and interest in Employee Relations to join our customer on a temporary basis, to cover maternity leave. This position is based at their head office in Cheltenham.

Working within the Employee Relations team your main responsibilities will be to work closely with Managers, Employees and Trade Union representatives across the business providing advice and support in the following areas:

* Interpretation and operation of HR policies and procedures including absence, grievance and disciplinary issues
* Legislative changes, terms and conditions, salaries and employee benefits. From time to time you may be required to undertake benchmarking activities to support salary or organisational changes
* Development and implementation of comprehensive HR policies and procedures to underpin business objectives, notifying line Managers, Employees and Union Representatives of changes in timely fashion.
* Support Headcount management issues including manpower planning and succession planning etc.
* Participate in the management of absence, grievance, disciplinary and other employment issues within the business.
* Assist Managers in analysing performance issues and in developing effective strategies to overcome them.
* Support all HR activities including counselling and general administration.
* To participate in Group-wide process improvement and development projects as appropriate
* Experience in continues improvement and improvements of processes.
Candidate skills and requirements

You will be able to demonstrate:
* CIPD qualified or working towards attaining CIPD qualifications.
* Experience of working in a similar role.
* A strong Employee Relations background with union experience ideally in a manufacturing and/or Engineering environment.
* Project management experience.
* Good presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation/group.
* Confidentiality, integrity and the ability to handle sensitive information/situations in a mature and thoughtful manner will be paramount to this position.
* A working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite and Calendar (e-mail) we will provide training for specific HR tools used within the function.
