Reporting into the Shift Leader, this role involves ensuring maximum line efficiency with accountability and ownership to deliver the line KPIs in their operational areas. The Man Tech is capable of and may from time to time lead a small team ensuring the running of a continuous packing\production line, manufacturing and packing high quality products, packaged and prepared for delivery in accordance with customer service requirements.

It involves working in and being responsible for ensuring a safe working manufacturing environment; protective clothing policies, health and safety and hygiene procedures need to be followed.

This role requires the ability to provide engineering technical expertise within a specific area to maximise the productivity and achievement of targets of the team\line\plant, in a high speed production environment (shift working).

SCOPE\DIMENSIONS OF ROLE

• This role can be an autonomous operationally focused role depending on the area of the business but regardless of area the scope of the role is to keep the line running efficiently from an engineering view point and when the line is running efficiently the scope of the role is to support the running of the line - from an operations view point
• Providing technical support for the area
• Delivery against all safety SOPS, policies and procedures
• Delivery against all Quality SOPS, policies and procedures
• Ensure Quality and Health and Safety KPI targets are consistently achieved as a minimum
• Ensure Customer service, OEE, PPM and waste targets are exceeded by the line team
• Conduct, lead and deliver changeover activity with a focus on change over reduction
• Support the training, development and assessment of the team to ensure flexibility is achieved within the team
• Conduct, lead and develop teams in troubleshooting, maintenance and CI activities
• Provide feedback for the TCA and CA 1-2-1
• Take responsibility for H&S in their area of operation
RESPONSIBILITIES\ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Support and ensure lines are operating at maximum efficiency to ensure all production plans are achieved on time and to quality standards
• In addition to the Technical Cell Associates, lead (as and when required) the hourly\daily\weekly performance reviews on the line ensuring corrective action is taken in a timely manner
• In additional to the Technical Cell Associates, lead (as and when required) and co-ordinate Cells Associates and operators activities in operational area ensuring most effective use of skills available
• Ensure waste levels are minimised to achieve area targets.
• In addition to the Technical Cell Associate, lead (as and when required) the team to ensure changeover activities are planned, resourced and continuously improved
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the performance of the team and equipment.
• Contribute to ensuring team members have the necessary skills to operate their area to the required standards
• Actively influence the production planning process to optimise line performance, including updating plans.
• Communicate with internal customers and support functions to ensure delivery of KPIs
• Define, plan and lead the necessary maintenance tasks making sure the line team fulfil their duties.
• Contribute to the control of departmental R&M budget and ensure this is on target
• Lead and co-ordinate breakdown engineering activities for the lines
• Complete root cause analysis, in line with down time procedure to Identify and implement preventative solutions
• Support successful implementation of planned maintenance and new projects
• Ensure maintenance\repair information is logged into Maximo (CMMS)
• Ensure adherence to housekeeping and hygiene standards within the work area
• Use escalation process for line stoppages or breakdowns in excess of 15 mins or two consecutive hours of below target OEE.
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in respect of safety and quality systems
• Take ownership for own training plan with support from your Maintenance Manager and Production Manager
• Ensure right first time completion of all line documentation eg Change control, Maximo, weigh data.
• Participate in audits (carried out by internal auditors and external auditors)
• .Ensure adherence to housekeeping and hygiene standards within the work area

KEY CHALLENGES

• Undertaking production duties, whilst maintaining an engineering overview of the line
• Prioritise own tasks effectively to ensure delivery of all KPIs
• Passing knowledge on to team members whilst leading from time to time and operating within that team
• Remove non value added tasks to ensure maximum line efficiency and enable focus on improvement
• Influencing effectively to ensure support for improvement activities
• Performance related pay linked to key KPIs and core values being demonstrated
• Knowing when to sacrifice line efficiency to ensure customer service is met
• Creating the opportunity to use improvement tools and CI tool box

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS\EXPERIENCE

• Trained to a Mechanical and\or Electrical craft level, NVQ level 4 or above or equivalent International qualification
• Production line experience on high speed packaging equipment in fmcg, food, chemical, or pharmaceutical environment
• A proven background of delivering the MT key responsibilities internally from an RB Technical Cell Associate or Operator role
• Analytical skills with drive to implement improvements
• Awareness of quality/Good Manufacturing Practice
• Experience of a KPI focussed environment
• Supervisory experience
