Design Engineer
GBP25,000 - GBP30,000 DOE
+ cGBP2.5 - GBP3K annual company bonus
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 08:00- 17:30 (1 hour lunch break)
Based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire - Close to Junction 38 of the M1
The purpose of the role is to take over from the Engineering Manager who will be retiring in five years, so ambition and drive will be key here - What an amazing opportunity for career progression!

Our client is a well-established company, trading for around 40 years in the construction industry, supplying non-mechanical equipment to a vast customer base across the UK. They are proud to boast the ISO 9001 quality standard as well as being recognised as an 'Investor in People' (IIP) organisation. Due to continued industry success and future business growth plans they are seeking an experienced Design Engineer/Draftsman to join their team and be key support to the Engineering Manager; working with customers on bespoke designs, from conception to the finished product.
Experience required to fulfil the position:
- Experience of working on bespoke designs for a Fabrication Workshop
- CAD software (ideally Solidworks)
- Technical Drawing ideally for metal applications (Steel/Aluminum preferential)
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and modify technical fabrication drawings to design and develop new and bespoke products using Solidworks Software
- Produce and evaluate prototypes
- Provide prices for bespoke designs
- Liaise consistently and effectively with the customer throughout the design and fabrication process
- Improve efficiency and performance of existing designs, machinery and equipment, systems and products
- Research and determine viability of new products
- Produce, collect and analyse data to formulate reports for management presentation and client submission
- Integrate theoretic designs with practical capacity available (some items can be outsourced to support designs)
- Occasional client visits
Additional information:
- Pension - automatically enrolled on appointment, 30 day cool off to withdraw; matched by client immediately to a maximum 3% of salary
- Holiday Entitlement - 33 days per annum (25 days + Statutory Bank Holidays)
