Trainee Advocate
As a member of the Advocacy department you will be immersed in a fast paced professional environment which will give you the skills and confidence to be a successful advocate.
You will be a valuable member of the team who will contribute to the success of the department by providing timely and effective advocacy services to the entire firm & external clients.
Our clients Advocacy department was established in 1999 acting similarly to traditional barristers' chambers.
Upon joining the team you will be supported in a structured training scheme to allow you to familiarise yourself with the company policies, culture and practice. The first few months will be spent shadowing our experienced advocates in court, and drafting advices on liability and quantum, from which you will gain valuable experience.
Once you are more confident and have built up your knowledge, you can run with the role and act as an advocate in the county court conducting infant approvals, small claims, applications and case management conferences. This role isn't a training contract but it does include an in house training scheme to help you become a successful and effective advocate.
Person specification:
Communication: Ability to think and respond quickly and appropriately. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Ability to challenge others and justify decisions.
Commitment: Evidence of self development within the legal sector is highly desirable. Law degree required, BPTC/BVC or LPC preferred, however other levels of education considered. Previous advocacy experience desirable.
Innovation: Ability to formulate coherent and logical arguments from raw information. Openness to sharing and learning from other advocates in the department
