The company are an Independent Digital Marketing agency with offices in London, New York, Sydney and Shrewsbury. They were founded in 2011 and were recently ranked number 4 in Google's top 10 Independent Digital Agencies last year.

Job Role:

The company is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Junior PHP Developer required to develop their flagship platform.

Based in the Shrewsbury office, the successful candidate will be a key part of an evolving development team that is producing a suite of tools to manage, support and enhance high profile internet marketing campaigns.

Main Activities / Tasks

• Successful delivery of the solutions to agreed timelines
• Explains progress on the development effort
• Collaboration with leads to explore existing systems, determine areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation, and learn the applications capabilities
• Ensure operations requirements are met prior to production deployment
• Planning and execution of amendments due to relevant third party API updates
• Assist triage and resolution for production issues as they arise

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

• Responsible for following coding standards, builds appropriate unit tests, integration tests and deployment scripts
• Responsible for building and implementing designs from wider team to a high standard
• Responsible for communicating continually with the team on priorities and focus
• Responsible for translating specification documentation provided by the product team into clearly defined functionality
• Responsible for developing, compiling and unit test building for delivery to QA

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will be keen to learn, want to strive for success and have a desire to question everything. An analytical mind-set coupled with the ability to think laterally is a must for this role.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Degree level education or relevant equivalent experience
• Strong experience with object-oriented PHP5 (PHP 5.4 and above)
• Strong experience with PHP frameworks (preferably Laravel 5.1 and above)
• Experience of building relational databases with MySQL, including optimisation and indexing
• Experience of version control tools (Git or Subversion)
• Experience of using standards-compliant front-end technology - HTML5, CSS3
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks (preferably jQuery)
• Experience of unit testing (PHPUnit or similar)
• Excellent levels of communication
• Proactive approach to work with a high level of enthusiasm for web development

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Experience of consuming RESTful APIs
• Experience of system administration in a LAMP environment
• Experience with consuming and implementing third party web services and tools, in particular: Amazon Web Services, Google Analytics, Bing Ads & Google Adwords APIs.
• Experience of message queueing e.g. Beanstalkd, Redis
