Background

The GCCF was created by a number of UK cat clubs in 1910 to be the first organisation in the UK to provide a unified system of registration and awards for showing of cats. It was run by a group of dedicated volunteers from the constituent clubs.

Whilst still a centre of the administration of the GCCF, staff are now concerned with providing the GCCF customers with a high level of support and customer service to enrich the customer’s experience of the GCCF and its associated activities.

The Role

The GCCF has an opening within the team at the Bridgwater Office for a new administrator.

This person must be able to demonstrate a high level of commitment and ability to deliver high quality customer service whilst being a person that is adaptable and can turn their hand to all the different facets of the organisation.

An ideal candidate would have demonstrable excellent customer service under difficult conditions, a degree in English, a knowledge of genetics, excellent IT skills, an aptitude for promotion and marketing and willingness to do “what is needed when required”. We have already found one such person and therefore there may be few such candidates on the doorstep, but if you do have these qualities, then great! Apply Now!

However if you show excellent customer service, a positive attitude combined with a willingness to do “what is needed when required” and are proficient in WORD and EXCEL, then we are prepared to consider employing a person at an entry level with the organisation who can demonstrate they are on a path to these achieving the ideal.

The person must have excellent telephone manner and display a positive attitude to the challenges of business and life in general.

As with any administrative role a high degree of accuracy and organisation skills are required along with excellent computer skills. An aptitude for creative graphic design would beneficial.

The candidate will need to know or be prepared to learn the "language" of the Cat Fancy and the rules regulations to registering and showing cats to be able to answer customer queries.

The candidate will have the opportunity to learn how to register GCCF cats using their unique genetic based registration system.

For the right candidate opportunities may exist to travel the UK to attend meetings and events where necessary.

This role is not about working directly with animals.

If you feel you have the “right stuff” to offer the GCCF then send your CV and explanation as to how you would meet this criteria and what you can offer the GCCF

The detailed job description can be downloaded from the GCCF website.

The starting salary is £14,000 to £16,000 per annum for a 37 hour week and comes with 28 days annual leave (including public holidays), plus paid time off over the Christmas shutdown. An automatic enrolment-compliant pension scheme of our choosing will apply from 2017.

Applicants cannot work for another cat registry.
