Raw Materials Technologist
Location: Harrow
Salary: GBP25,000 - GBP27,000
Do you have a background in Raw Materials Technologist in the FMCG market?
Ensure that customer, business unit and legal requirements for raw materials and supplier quality assurance are achieved, that quality, safety and risk evaluation systems are in place, monitored and corrective actions completed
key responsibilities
- Ensure that all raw material specifications are reviewed and risk assessed to the outlined frequency and that the raw material database is updated to reflect any changes
- Ensure that all raw material specifications (for both NPD and current undergoing review) are validated by both the client and the supplier and held on file providing controlled access to the Technical team
- Generate, maintain and update relevant raw material systems and databases liaising with Operations, Technical and NPD as appropriate
- Manage factory raw material issues in a timely and effective manner
- Develop relationships with suppliers to ensure that all non conformances are actioned appropriately through regular reviews, supplier performance monitoring and trending
- Provide Technical support in the escalation of corrective actions with suppliers where raw material requirements are not met
- Ensure that all customer complaints in relation to raw materials are investigated satisfactorily and corrective actions are agreed and documented
- Assist in the co-ordination of response to raw material related food safety alerts
- Participate in Technical audits including customer and Group Technical ensuring all relevant raw material information is available and completed in the required timescale
- Carry out microbiological, nutritional and chemical sampling as necessary for the appropriate tests on intake and where necessary
- Work closely with manager to ensure that all suppliers either existing to the business or a new supplier/material to be introduced into the business has full/current approval status
- Ensure that all information held centrally is regularly updated in relation to our factories supply base and issues raised accordingly
- To operate in a safe working manner and support the site/business on continuous improvement relating to heath, safety and the environment
