Job Title: Hydrant Maintenance and Planning Engineer

Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, PE29

Salary: £17,891 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time - normally 37 hours per week, but additional hours may be required (time off in lieu will be given)

Closing Date: Monday 23 January 2017 @ 12 noon

If you have answered yes, you could be our client's new Hydrant Maintenance and Planning Engineer.

Job Role:

A part of your job role will be to inspect development sites at the planning stage, to determine existing water supplies and assess if fire hydrants or other water supplies are required.

Also to ensure all fire hydrants are examined and maintained in good working order in accordance with Service procedure confirming their readiness for operational use, and to ensure that all hydrants are correctly indicated by means of a post and/or plate for ease of identification when required operationally.

The Candidate:

Critical

  • Full, current, clean driving licence
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • Ability to interpret and annotate plan drawings
  • Basic IT skills

Essential

  • Good knowledge of the road network throughout Cambridgeshire, with good local geographical knowledge
  • Competent in reading street maps and understanding site plans
  • Ability to plan alternative routes to meet changing circumstances
  • Understand the principles of Health and Safety, including manual handling
  • Awareness of cost implications associated with planning and maintenance activities
  • Ability to keep accurate records
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, concise and articulate manner
  • Experience of working effectively with other people
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised

Desirable

  • Experience of undertaking routine vehicle checks
  • Knowledge of working practises as specified in the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991
  • Experience of using Graphical Information System (GIS)
