Botany Bay has a Restaurant and two Café’s. This role is primarily based in the restaurant where home cooked food is prepared and cooked daily. The successful person would need to be able to work in either of the cafes as required. The cafe's offer hot sandwiches, burgers etc so food preparation and cooking is to a specific minimal menu.

The restaurant provides a range of home cooked produce and this person will be required to assist the Chef and the Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation, serving food to order, help with stock control and ordering. Cleaning and maintaining a safe and clean environment meeting the various standards. The successful person will be trained in all aspects but will be expected to contribute fully to the successful operation of the kitchen team in collaboration with the front of house team.

The restaurant also hosts a function room which can be hired for parties with hot meals or cold buffets.

The restaurant and cafes open 7 days a week so weekend working will be required.

The role will involve Assisting the Chef and Head Chef prepare for service delivery. Preparation and cooking of home-made produce as required. Service of meals to order in a timely manner maintaining standards. Reporting any issues to the Head Chef. Helping monitoring and managing stock levels and ordering. Cleaning as an ongoing job to preparation areas to avoid any cross contamination. Weekly and Monthly cleaning tasks.

Candidates will be paid the minimum wage for their age.

The Apprenticeship training for this vacancy will be provided by Runshaw College. As this is a funded Apprenticeship programme it is not open to candidates who have already achieved a qualification at Level 4 or above.

Skills Required

 

 

Food awareness including allergens, ability follow and re-produce menu items to standard, ability to follow procedures in terms of opening and closing the kitchen and maintain health and safety standards

Qualifications

Any Food Safety Certificates
4 GCSE’s Grades A*-D including Maths and English.

Personal Qualities

Good communication, enthusiastic, energetic, reliable and ability to work in a team.

Progression/Prospects

The Restaurant at Botany Bay was only recently re-opened and is gaining a good reputation so we fully intend to enhance that as far as possible so the need for qualified Chef’s will become more necessary.
