Job purpose

The main purpose of the role is to grow our website traffic by maximising its organic visibility in search engines. The post holder will research and apply SEO techniques and performance monitoring. They will also be closely involved in the development and implementation of the SEO and content strategies.

Main responsibilities and tasks


Manage third party SEO tools including Ahrefs for research, campaign monitoring and competitor insight
Gather and upload member profile details to fmb.org.uk in a search engine-friendly manner
Contact and advise members regarding their incoming links to fmb.org.uk
Train and coordinate other staff in gathering and uploading member profiles and managing links
Create new content and social media recommendations from keyword research
Manage incoming links and filter out spam
Follow latest developments within search engines and ensure the FMB is quick to react to emerging opportunities
Champion SEO best practice within the FMB, produce SEO guidelines are and ensure they are followed
Monitor reputation of FMB brand on public web forums and review sites
Contribute to landing page reporting in Google Analytics
Use web CMS to create, update and maintain web pages, Apply web layout principles
Online community and social media management, including online brand monitoring and reporting
Some preparation of copy and artwork


Skills and knowledge


Strong SEO experience and knowledge
Digital marketing
Confident and diplomatic manner
Experience of website content management systems in laying out documents and web pages professionally
Knowledge of HTML
Strong organisational skills, ability to work well under pressure on own initiative
Self-starter, task-oriented and deadline driven
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to gain knowledge of FMB processes, rules and procedures
Ability to adopt FMB business values: Professional, Commercial, Positive, Collaborative


Communications


To be a point of contact for incoming telephone calls. Calls could be with members, colleagues, public and external organisations
Good at communicating over outgoing calls
Read, sort and filter incoming mail, email and enquiries
