Manufacturing and Production Team Leader

Our client, a leading designer and integrated manufacturer of award-winning passenger seats for some of the world's leading airlines - has an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Team Leader to join this fast growing business.

* Location: Crawley (RH11)
* Salary: GBP23,000pa to GBP26,000pa dependant on experience

As an integral member of the Production Department and reporting directly into the Production Supervisor, the Team Leader will manage a production cell team in delivering the production plan in order to deliver aircraft seats in line with customer requirements to the company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities;

* Agree the weekly plan and ensure delivery dates/parts requirements are communicated and met to ensure delivery of orders on time.
* Accountability for the final quality of the product leaving the cell.

* Effectively use Lean tools (5S, Standard Work, Set up Reduction, Visual Management) within the teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
* Maintain lines and production areas in an organised, clean, and orderly state.

* Accountable for the communication, product quality and delivery across production.
* Control traceability by ensuring paperwork and parts are kept with the correct work order.
* Effectively communicates inconsistencies/issues relating to safety, quality, personnel, equipment and/or raw/finished goods to production supervisor.
* Ensure that there are adequate numbers of skilled team members relative to the production plan by controlling absences and skills identifying shortfalls in headcount and rectifying as soon as possible within the team in conjunction with the production supervisor.
* Able to coach, mentor and develop the team to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
* Hold team briefs, on the job training as well as one to one meetings.

To be successful in this position you will have/be;

* Previous leadership, organisational and team management skills gained within a manufacturing production environment - manual assembly line environment highly desirable.
* Experience in or understanding of utilising Lean tools (5S, Standard Work, Set up Reduction, Visual Management).
* Able to coach, mentor and develop a team to ensure safety, quality, and productivity to include 1-1 experience, team briefs output and KPI management.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skill.
* Confident in Microsoft office packages and quick to learn new in house systems.
* Strong integrity, initiative, focus and attention to detail.
