R&D PROGRAMME MANAGER - MEDICAL DEVICES

EDINBURGH - SALAY CGBP60,000 PLUS BENEFITS AND EXCELLENT EQUITY DEAL

Based in Edinburgh, Edgar Stewart's client is a rapidly expanding and highly ambitious medical device manufacturer. This market leading SME has developed a unique and highly innovative product that substantially increases the detection of pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix; helping women across the world treat and detect cervical cancer early. The business is about to undertake a huge expansion across the USA and parts of Europe. To help them deliver this growth and a potential exit, they now need to make the key hire of an R&D Programme Manager.

Reporting to the CEO, the R&D Programme Manager will maintain and develop the design of the company's products. This involves the management of both internal and external resources across the software, mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines. As a key part of the senior management team, you will help plan, project manage and execute their technology and growth strategy. Other key responsibilities will include:

Understand the customer environment in order to make well-judged design decisions.
Project manage several parallel activities across a range of both internal and external technical resources.
Working with Supply Chain and Regulatory colleagues monitor, evaluate and improve the customer experience.
Drive innovation, creative thinking and strategic planning for the product road-map.
Accountable for the development and completion of R&D projects within agreed timelines and budgets.
Line management of in-house software developers and field support personnel.
Project management of product development activities ensuring on-time delivery, within budget and to agreed specification.
Adherence and maintenance of company BSI reviewed CE mark, FDA approval and ISO13485 certification.
Liaison with colleagues in Supply Chain and Regulatory Affairs as required.

We are looking for a proven and highly experienced R&D or Product Engineering Manager. We would expect this candidate to have a strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, electronic or software engineering. Ideally you will come from a medical devices or life sciences background. We may also consider candidates from other highly regulated product backgrounds. Key to executing this role is a proven project/programme management capability. A formal project management qualification would be good.

Candidates should note that there will be some travel in this role to Europe and the USA.

This represents a superb opportunity to join one of Scotland's best medical device success stories, and shape healthcare for women the world over. A base salary of cGBP60,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits, is massively enhanced by a potential equity deal that could pay six figures in the short to medium term.
