Tool Maintenance Engineer - Injection Moulding

Days role GBP30K-GBP35K
This leading manufacturer of injection moulded products for the healthcare industry is currently seeking a Tool Maintenance Engineer due to continued growth and success.
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the activities of the Tool Shop, i.e. Mould Maintenance, insert changing and spares program. Work with sub contract tool makers to manage basic repairs and modifications. Work is performed with a high degree of independence that is subject to the review of the Engineering Manager. Pass on required skills to any apprentice / trainee working within the department.
As Tool Maintenance Engineer your duties will include
* Troubleshooting and recommending solutions for problem moulds.
* Mould cleaning and rework as required.
* Working with sub contract tool makers to manage basic repairs and modifications.
* Carrying out insert changes to support production needs
* Establishing and maintaining spares system in compliance with budget and management system requirements.
* Insuring that required repairs, modifications, change over of moulds are completed within the time frame required.
* Setting up and operating all tool room equipment and measuring equipment, using very close tolerances.
* Co-ordinating and interfacing with all activities involving all internal and external tooling activities
* Making required purchases of cutting tools, end mills, files, drills, grinding wheels and other necessary supplies to the operation of the department efficiently.
* Maintaining tool shop area and keeps equipment in good operating condition and repair.
* Cooperating with personnel in all departments by making cost estimates, completion dates, and updating progress of tools and moulds in tool shop care.
* Assisting other departments when required. Includes troubleshooting new and existing jobs, cycle improvement, quality improvement and tooling function, both moulds and all secondary equipment and operations. Assist in expediting moulds, tooling etc.
* Controlling the shipment or transfer of all moulds entering and leaving the Tool Shop to either other business units or outside vendors.
* Maintaining proper records of activities on moulds and time required to complete the job and produce necessary reports.
To be eligible for this role of Injection Moulding Tool Maintenance Engineer, the ideal candidate will -
* Be Apprentice trained/Time Served, with a minimum 3 years' experience in an injection moulding tool maintenance environment.
