PURCHASE LEDGER ASSISTANT

TEMPORARY CONTRACT

(MATERNITY COVER APPROX 13 MONTHS)

We currently have a vacancy for a Purchase Ledger Assistant to cover a maternity leave period of just over 13 months commencing March 2017.  The hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm and the hourly rate is £7.50 per hour.  This position benefits from an annual holiday allowance of 30 days (including bank holidays) and a free school lunch (up to a specified value).

The successful person will be pro-active and work well alone as well as part of a small, busy team. Duties will include processing over 150 invoices per week and providing any other administrative support to the Finance Manager as required.

 

Purpose of the Role

To process purchase ledger invoices in accordance with the schools’ procedures and to also provide any other administrative support to the Finance Manager as required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all invoices are correctly coded and authorised in accordance with BGS procedures.
  • Input invoices on the purchase ledger system.
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements and maintaining supplier accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve purchase ledger queries as required, liaising with suppliers and BGS staff.
  • Ensure prompt filing of supplier invoices.
  • Create reports that allow BGS staff to effectively control and manage their expenditure budgets.
  • Ensure adherence to month-end deadlines.
  • Ensure good internal controls with respect to the Purchase Ledger function.

 

The Person

Skills/Educational Requirements

  • You will ideally have worked within purchase ledger previously.
  • A-C Maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent) desirable but not essential.
  • Great interpersonal and communications skills.
  • The ability to work to monthly deadlines.
  • Be IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Hours of work/Salary and other details

  • Fixed-term contract for approximately 13 months, commencing March 2017.
  • Hours are 8:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday, half an hour (unpaid) lunch break, totalling 35 hours per week.
  • Salary: £13650.00 per annum
  • Annual paid holiday allowance of 30 days (including bank holidays). Please note that this is the total annual holiday allowance; this role is NOT term time only.
  • Free school lunch (up to a specified value)
