Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £11 - £14 an hour dependant on experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 8 am to 4 pm; Monday to Friday; 35 hours a week - reasonable over time expected to be worked.

Our Client:

Our Client is a well-established electrical and mechanical engineering services Company operating out of three branches in the south of England. They have a wide customer base and typically repair, overhaul and install pumps, motors and gearboxes. Due to their ongoing success they are looking to recruit an Electrical Engineer for their Portsmouth Branch.

Overall Purpose of the job:

Install, fit, test, assemble, commission, maintain and repair electro mechanical systems and equipment and wiring in accordance with regulations and specifications. Carry out work to the satisfaction of the customer and the management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse job cards to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, estimate, description of problems and / or expected serviceability.
  • Test electro-mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems.
  • Disassemble electro-mechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration and condition.
  • Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical assemblies.
  • Requisition of replacement parts.
  • Verify repairs using start-up testing procedures.
  • Retest reassembled electro-mechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
  • Operate specialized equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Producing test certificates where applicable
  • Follow all Company Health & Safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Keep work area neat and tidy.
  • Carry out any other reasonable request from the Management

Key Skills:

  • Experience of customer site work preferably in the Water Utility industry.
  • Excellent Health & Safety knowledge and application.
  • 17th Edition qualified. Test and Inspect qualification and advantage.
  • Well organised with the ability to multi task.
  • 'Can do' attitude with a flexible approach to work.
  • Sound electrical skills.
