Our client is looking to recruit a highly motivated Estimator to join their busy road surfacing department. Reporting to the Surfacing Manager the successful candidate will have a key role in the department and will be responsible for all tender enquiries from inception through to order conversion.
Job Role:
- Review and evaluation of tender enquiry documentation from small private works to major surfacing projects.
- Extract accurate information from enquiry documents (BoQ???s, Drawings and Specifications) and preparing cost estimates.
- Preparation and submission of tenders and pre- qualification questionnaires to meet tight deadlines.
- Work closely with their Quantity Surveyor and Operations team in the transition of tenders to live project status communicating all information required to fulfil the projects to timeframes and budget.
- Attending potential sites for measurement purposes or client liaison at tender stage.
- Identification and pricing/valuation of variations and additional works.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience in surfacing / civil engineering industry and working knowledge of the Specification of Highway Works.
- Have experience in tendering for local authority frameworks, partnerships and major projects.
- Have knowledge of civil engineering and construction contracts. NEC3 and JCT minor works.
- Be self- motivated with good communication skills and flexible in their approach to work and duties.
- Have a full clean driving licence.
The Estimator position offers a very competitive salary and company vehicle. The role will be based in their Troon office and will require the candidate to travel to sites, trade body and procurement events.
