Our client a leading manufacturer of furniture in West Yorkshire are looking for 2 Manufacturing Team Leaders to join their existing team in Huddersfield. Reporting into a Senior Team Leader you will have responsibility for the management of people within a given production area and be expected to monitor performance through KPI's. Some of the key accountabilities are as follows;

• To lead a team of up to 12 operators in a designated area and rotation (shifts) to ensure that the planned outputs are achieved with the minimum level of inputs (materials, labour and machinery/equipment time), whilst achieving constantly improving levels of Quality, Cost and Delivery performance; and by ensuring the correct work is always available at their workstations.

• To ensure SOP's exist for all tasks and to audit them across all operations and each operator to ensure that they are current, the operators are fully compliant and that standards are being maintained.

• To improve the team effectiveness through provision of training using the SOP's and maintaining a skills matrix to track and build on team flexibility, working closely with the company training manager to agree priorities.

• To measure, record and analyse the key process outputs of the team on a real time (shift) basis, particularly: Quality, Productivity, Plan Adherence, Operational Effectiveness and Housekeeping.

• To identify any concerns with process equipment and work with Process Engineers, Technical Support and Maintenance Services as appropriate to rectify.

• To train Production Operators on first level maintenance of their equipment. Liaise with maintenance to ensure the level of operator maintenance is current, appropriate, and being completed to a satisfactory standard; working with maintenance to ensure timely Planned work.

• To communicate with the team on a shift basis, particularly feeding back specific customer complaints/requirements, discussing performance data (actual v Plan), identifying and discussing concerns and developing countermeasures. To maintain the above across rotations through the development of effective Visual Management.

The successful candidates will already have management experience within a manufacturing environment and have some experience of Lean/5s methodologies. You will have an appetite for change and be constantly looking for new ways to improve existing processes. A hands on management style is needed for this role as well as the ability to work across a 3 shift pattern in the near future. Candidates with furniture/wood manufacturing experience are highly desirable.
