LabVIEW & PLC Software Engineer

Salary Negotiable + Bonus

Our client develops individual coating solutions for components and is also a leader in the building of coating machines.  They specialise in Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coatings and have one of the world’s most comprehensive coatings portfolios.

They are currently seeking a LabVIEW & PLC Software Engineer to work as part of the team in their Equipment Build Department.

Responsibilities:               

Design, development and maintenance of control system software aspects of the Company’s PVD coating and test equipment, including:

  • Programming and configuring LabVIEW software based control systems, as well as developing expertise in programming Siemens PLC/SCADA based control systems
  • Experience using NI hardware (DAQ card, RIO, etc.)
  • Experience using version control
  • Interpret and understand customer industrial control system requirements
  • Produce design documents including I/O lists, functional and/or software design specifications and flow charts, parts lists, wiring schematics, bill of materials, test documents etc.
  • Involvement with selection and procurement of components
  • Ensure that the systems comply with relevant local health & safety, build standards and other regulatory requirements that exist in different countries (Low voltage directive, Machinery directive, CE marking etc.)
  • Testing and commissioning equipment
  • Manage project costs and on-time delivery
  • Providing advice and support as necessary to Sales & Marketing in order to facilitate the quotation process
  • Providing advice and support as necessary to Technical Support and Service
  • Coordinating and working with external contractors and suppliers

Your profile:

  • Industrial experience in the field of LabVIEW control system design is essential, ideally Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) or higher.
  • Good working knowledge of PLC/SCADA programming software would be an advantage, particularly Siemens and Controle Maestro
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Control engineering or related field an advantage
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to take on responsibility
  • Ability to display flexibility and openness as well as working well under pressure
  • Highly motivated, with commitment to deliver on time and on budget
