Our company client is a high profile organisation who are actively seeking to appoint a driven and tenacious Application Development Manager to join their team office based in Manchester. The successful applicant will report to the Head of Information Technology within the IT Department and will provide operational support to the IT Department in an efficient and professional manner and in accordance with the agreed procedures and service standards. This function will contribute to the overall success of the IT Department in achieving its objectives as part of overall Company Strategy.

Main duties for this role will include:

1 Actively contribute to/participate in the IT transformation programme to enable IT to support the agreed business goals.
2 Working with the Head of IT, design, implement, support and maintain a secure, robust and resilient IT development environment to support the IT target operating model, incorporating but not limited to the following:
* Development of new solutions / major enhancements within the existing application landscape.
* Minor enhancements and issue resolution relating to business as usual (BAU).
* Design, architecture and implementation as part of a wider strategic application roadmap and refresh programme.
3 Ensure that the development environment satisfies compliance and information security requirements including but not limited to the Lloyd's Minimum Standards, Cyber Essentials and ISO2700x frameworks.
4 Working with the wider IT management team, provide functional guidance and leadership to ensure that development resources deployed in the Change and Run teams are sufficiently informed and trained in the relevant technologies to enable them to perform their roles.
5 Utilising best practices and frameworks such as ITIL, contribute to, and maintain, a rich and concise documentation library to enable support of the enterprise architecture.
6 Support the Head of IT by providing both reactive and proactive subject matter expertise and technical design authority input.
7 Provide local IT Management team representation and oversight in the Manchester office.

2 PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery
3 ASP.NET MVC
4 SQL Server / SSIS, SSRS
5 MQ
6 Experience of developing service APIs
7 Source Code Control software (e.g. TFS, Git)

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

1 Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services
2 SOA / ESB technologies
3 Understanding of web application security

5 ETL, Data Warehouse, MI / BI systems
6 SharePoint development
7 Infrastructure skills (server administration, backup procedures, networking etc.)
8 ITIL Service Management
9 IBM iSeries platform

11 Familiarity with full software development lifecycle
12 Broad understanding of a range of application deployment technologies e.g. Octopus Deploy, ClickOnce
13 Understanding of concepts such as Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration
