Information & Advice Officer
Swansea
£19,510 per annum


The aim of the post is to deliver the Money Advice Service What Works Project in accordance with the project plan.

The What Works Project is funded by the Money Advice Service and is being formally externally evaluated by Trilein.  The project aims to determine what works for people aged over 65 to motivate them to take action to develop their financial capability. Particularly with regard to setting up a lasting power of attorney, developing their skills and knowledge to use online financial services and taking action to reduce their risk of being scammed.

The project will be delivered by providing advice and information on these subjects to people aged 65 through face to face one on one sessions either in the community or at Ty Davies and through group seminars at Ty Davies.

Key Responsibilities
•    To deliver advice and information on the benefits of having a lasting power of attorney and how one can be set up, both through one on one sessions and in a group setting.
•    To deliver advice and information on how to use online financial services, including how online banking could develop their capacity to manage their money effectively as they age and how comparison sites, shopping online can maximise their income both through one on one sessions and in a group setting
•    To deliver advice & Information on how to avoid being scammed including preventing cold calling, receiving scam letters and being a victim of cyber-crime, .both through one on one sessions and in a group setting
•    To manage the evaluation framework and work with Trilein to ensure all the data required is collected and provided to Trilien in accordance with the agreed evaluation framework.
•    To work with the Advice, Information and Advice Manager to ensure that the outcomes agreed in the Learning and Sharing Plan are achieved, including attendance at the seminars where we will share the outcome of the project with key local stakeholders.
•    To develop opportunities with line manager to reach as wide and diverse client groups as possible
•    To maintain accurate client records in accordance with the procedures set out by ACSB and the standards required by the Age UK Advice Quality Mark, the Advice quality mark and the ACSB Data Protection Policy and procedure.
•    To supervise volunteers on a day to day basis but who will be formally managed by the ACSB Advocacy, Information and Advice Manager
•    To work with the ACSB Communications Officer to effectively promote the service in accordance with the Engagement Plan, working with the Advice, Information and Advice Manager to achieve the target number of clients required in accordance with the Project Plan. 
•    To undertake any other duties as may be requested from time to time by their line manager including attendance at occasional out-of-hours events.
•    To comply with ACSB policies and procedures, in particular Data Protection, Health and Safety, Confidentiality and Safeguarding Adults.

About You
You will have a good standard of education and a willingness to undertake training as required, in addition it is essential that you have the following essential knowledge and experience:
•    Significant knowledge of what a lasting power of attorney is and how it can be used to develop financial capability as we age
•    Significant knowledge of how online financial services and how they can be used to develop financial capability as we age
•    Significant knowledge of how scams can be avoided, including cyber -crime, postal and telephone scams.
•    Experience of working with people to provide advice or information in both one on one and group settings
•    Ability to manage digital record keeping
•    Ability to priorities a range of competing demands
•    Ability to manage digital communication systems, in particular Microsoft Office and databases.
Experience of working with people aged over 65, or of working in the voluntary sector or with volunteers is desirable as is the ability to speak Welsh.  Skills may also include:  Financial Services, Online Banking, Citizens Advise, Age Concern, or Data Protection.

•    Knowledge of and the ability to comply with Safeguarding Policies and Procedures and other essential policies and regulations
