An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Designer to work at a leading manufacturing company within the semiconductor industry.
As a Mechanical Designer you will work as part of a multi-disciplined team developing an innovative integrated system for exhaust gas management. Some international travel may be possible.
The successful candidate will:
- Generation of detailed designs from engineering specifications for a variety of Exhaust Management Systems
- Preparation of designs/drawings for products/components for fit, form and function so that the product operates effectively, reliably and safely
- Production of designs/drawings of products/components that can be manufactured efficiently and economically
- The minimum document set to be produced shall include:
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
- 3D models
- Accurate Bills of Materials
- Component Selection Specification/Criteria
- General Assembly Design drawings
- Bespoke component drawings
This role will also require you to:
- Deliver high quality designs and drawings, produced to the applicable standards
- Generate 3D models and maintain the Abatement System Master Model
- Work within company processes and procedures
- Demonstrate a good understanding of Engineering Change processes and liaise with other departments to ensure an effective change outcome
- Deliver appropriate design information to allow the creation of Manuals, Spares lists, Bills of Materials and any other input required by 'customers' (i.e. including 'internal' customers - Operations, Purchasing etc)
- Develop an understanding of manufacturing methods and processes used by company and ensure the designs reflect this methodology
- Work within timescales set by the Project Leader and under the technical direction of the Project Lead Engineer, communicate all issues or delays in a timely manner
- Work in a safe and effective manner in compliance with the Company's Health and Safety policy and ensure that the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act are met.
You will take a rigorous and structured approach to your design, utilising appropriate methods and following relevant European and international standards.
It is essential that you are a team player, able to work closely with fellow engineers and colleagues from around the world.
Skills required:
- Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably CATIA
- Knowledge of BS 8888
- Understanding of Piping and Instrumentation diagrams and system schematics is preferred
- Good design discipline and approach
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, and being able to produce designs that are efficient and economical
Qualifications/Education:
- Good mechanically biased Engineering degree or other engineering qualification
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a relevant design role
- Previous experience of Product Data Management Software would be an advantage
- Overview knowledge of Gas Abatement / Exhaust Management, and/or the Semiconductor Industry and Edwards would be an advantage
