Senior Care Assistant / Care Assistant Nights & Days
Situated in Shotton Colliery - County Durham, this care home has vacancies available for Senior Care Assistants.
The role of the senior care assistant is to support the manager and / or the person in charge in all aspects of the homes management, including taking temporary complete charge during the absence of the person in charge and his or her assistant.
- To ensure the smooth running of all shifts when in charge, dealing with all aspects of managing the home, the staff and caring for our service users
- Help to ensure that all junior and domestic staff contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere
- To administer medication in a safe and secure manner at all times whilst ensuring good practice is carried out
- Assist clients who need help with dressing / undressing, bathing or toileting. Assist a senior member of staff who has been assessed as competent with medication administration
- Assist service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence; help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment
- Help in the promotion of mental and physical activities of service users through talking to them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations
- Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone, greet visitors
- Read and write reports in case notes
- To promote all times, the Principles of Care, that underpin the basis of quality care for all service users
- To undertake personal care and other tasks as agreed between the service user and the company. This includes:
- Physical needs, Emotional needs, Practical needs, and Social needs
- To ensure that workload priorities are met by following the set care plan assessment & risk assessment
Full time 35 hours a week, NVQ level 3 and medication training needed, will include some weekend work.
GBP7.80 per hour.
Care Assistant:
- Would require NVQ Level 2 or above (or working towards it/willingness to commence)
- If no experience full training would be provided
- Day shifts, would be full time (35 hours) 5 days out of the 7 and will include weekend working and the shifts would include 8am -3pm, 3pm - 10pm, 8am - 8pm may also be required to cover sickness and holidays.
- Night Shifts would be full time (40 hours) 4 shifts per week and will include weekend work and the shifts would include 10pm - 8am, 8pm - 8am may also be required to cover holidays and sickness.
- GBP7.20 per hour
