Warehouse & Customisation Assistant

Reporting to: Warehouse Manager

Package

  • Salary - £15,863.04
  • Potential bonus of £750 gross per annum.
  • Pension, life assurance (after service qualification).
  • 23 days holiday accruing to 28 with service.

Hours

  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Usual working hours will be 10.00am to 6.00pm, however on occasions, flexibility will be required to cover other shifts between the hours of 7.00am - 3.00pm and 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Location
The role will be based at a warehouse at Gwaelod-y-garth in Taffs Well, Cardiff - Unit 4 Fairfield Industrial Estate, Taffs Well, CF15 8LA.

Responsibilities

  • Collate stock to orders, pack and prepare for despatch within the Company guidelines.
  • Assist with booking in and placing stock in appropriate stock position.
  • Ensure warehouse and working areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensure stock is rotated.
  • Ensure all documentation is correctly maintained.
  • Assist with perpetual inventory and year-end stock takes.
  • Receive incoming goods, check and sign paperwork for group of Companies when required.
  • Assist with other duties as and when required.
  • To meticulously customise products to the required standard, when demand requires.
  • To ensure cut products are easily identifiable using the required identifier.
  • To ensure all cutting quality issues are reported to the Purchasing & Logistics Manager.

  • Ensure all orders are picked and packed accurately.
  • Ensure the warehouse is well maintained at all times.
  • Tidiness and cleanliness of the warehouse.
  • Ensure regular stock rotation.
  • Ensure all incoming goods are checked and signed for when required.
  • Ensure that all functions meet the Company ISO Quality Standards.

Measure of performance

  • Number of complaints received in regards to incorrect dispatches.
  • Number of complaints received in regards to maintenance of Warehouse.
  • Has received full training in order to perform all above responsibilities.

Person specification
Essential

  • Demonstrates competency in English and Maths.
  • IT literate.
  • Knowledge of stock control systems.
  • Experience of Warehouse work.
  • Experience of stock control and manual stock counting.
  • Common sense.
  • Numerate and literate.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to write clear and concise English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
  • Ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and act on written instructions.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Flexible and proactive.
  • Able to work 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 7.00am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday as required to meet the needs of the business.

Desirable

  • Forklift experience. Bendi forklift licence preferred.
  • Knowledge of Sage stock control system.
  • Experience of handheld scanners.
  • Experience of computerised, location based inventory systems.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records.
  • Conscientious and able to act proactively and with limited direct supervision.
  • Lives locally.

Our client is a family owned Company supplying medical devices. Their Head Office is located in Cardiff. They employ approximately 80 people in various sites across the United Kingdom in Cardiff, Ferndown, Larne, London, Manchester, Nottingham, Peterborough and Perth. Our clients customers range from large to small, the majority are individual patient customers who they supply products to on a prescription basis through a Home Delivery Service.

Working very much like a pharmacy, they are a nationwide Dispensing Appliance Contractor specialising in stoma care. They request repeat prescriptions from GP Surgeries and then dispense prescription items to customers all over the UK, sending the deliveries out by courier or by one of their company nurses.
