The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 51,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.

The Severn Faculty requires an Events Administrator to help manage the busy educational events programme aimed principally at GPs and those training to be GPs. In this varied and busy post you will take responsibility for identifying profitable educational courses as well as all administrative activities related to a number of designated courses. This encompasses everything from finding a venue, publicising the course and overseeing the costs, to attending on the day and communicating with attendees. The education programmes are developed by the Faculty board and led by GP Education Leads and you will need to develop a good working relationship with the Education Leads and the Faculty Administrator. In addition, the post holder will be required to contribute and assist the existing Severn Faculty Administrator in providing administrative support to the Faculty.

You will have relevant administrative experience, preferably of managing courses or events, be fully competent in the Microsoft Office suite and ideally have some knowledge of Sage Financial Software. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, have the ability to manage competing priorities and make effective use of the College systems provided to support you in your duties. Experience of managing basic finances is desirable.

Although based in Bristol, courses are held in venues throughout the Faculty area so the successful applicant must have access to their own transport and a flexible approach regarding hours. A flexi-time system is in operation.

In return, the College offers excellent terms and conditions.
