COM169 - Graduate Trainee Policy and Communications Adviser

Part-time, fixed term

Based in Cardiff

Salary: £3,904 per annum (based on the full time salary of £19,524 pro-rata)

We have a vacancy for a graduate trainee policy and communications adviser to join the external affairs team of the strategy, communications and policy department at the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) in Wales.

The post holder will support the policy and communications work of the RCP in Wales and engage with RCP fellows and members. You will participate as an active member of the wider RCP Wales team, supporting the senior policy and public affairs adviser for Wales in carrying out the following activities:

  • provide policy and communications support to the RCP Wales team
  • contributing to policy development by working with patients and doctors
  • contributing to events, site visits, meetings and workshops
  • contributing to consultation responses, newsletters and research and media briefings
  • and a variety of other policy and communications administrative activities.

This will be a busy, rewarding, and varied entry level position which will require someone who wants to gain experience and develop excellent policy, communications and relationship building skills. Applicants should be keen to work with a wide variety of people – from doctors to policy-makers – and have a desire to learn more about how to develop and influence health and healthcare policy.

This part-time post (one day a week) would suit a recent graduate, or current postgraduate student. This is a six-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension.
