A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Analytical Chemist to join the world’s largest producer of printing inks, pigments and functional coatings. This is an exciting opportunity to work within our clients laboratory teams in Rochdale. You will be at the forefront of cutting edge technology helping our client to remain the world leader in the production of inks, pigments and functional coatings. 

About you:
The successful candidate will have the following background: 

•    Either qualified by proven previous experience or to a degree/equivalent in a Chemistry related subject.
•    Basic good laboratory techniques, sound knowledge of weights and measures and basic math.
•    Good laboratory practice and good lab book keeping. Good knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and scientific statistical analysis.
•    Candidates must have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence 
•    Preferred but not essential - Familiarity Screen printing machines, Rheology equipment, Bead mills and roll mills. Industrial chemistry experience

The Role
Reporting to the Analytical Services Manager, the Analytical Chemist will assist in making ink formulations, testing fineness of grind, ink rheology and viscosity, screen printing and other laboratory practices involved in the manufacture of printing ink, sensors and other materials related to the business. The Chemist would be expected to be able to work independently, reporting back to the Technical Director periodically. 
The Chemist will be expected to carry out work on contract research projects, grant aided projects, internal research and development projects and the manufacture of production items. They will also be expected to help with the general running of the laboratory areas.
