The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales is an independent voice and champion for older people across Wales.

The Commissioner is looking for an individual, with a real drive to making a difference to the lives of older people in Wales, to join her Audit and Risk Assurance Committee. These are fixed term advisory roles to the Commissioner. In practice, the advisory role of the committee spans all of the Commissioner’s remit rather than being simply focussed on audit/finance issues.

The appointee will be expected to provide a fresh, external perspective to discussions, as well as independent constructive challenge. This input will help to ensure that the work of the Commissioner continues to make Wales a good place to grow older, not just for some but for everyone.

Successful applicants should be able to demonstrate an understanding of corporate governance, the delivery of health care across all health sectors, and have an ability to think strategically and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of issues affecting older people in Wales today is essential.

Applications may be sumbitted in Welsh, an application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.

Mae Comisiynydd Pobl Hŷn Cymru yn llais annibynnol ac yn hyrwyddwr ar gyfer pobl hŷn ledled Cymru.

Mae'r Comisiynydd yn chwilio am  unigolyn, sy'n awyddus iawn i wneud gwahaniaeth i fywydau pobl hŷn yng Nghymru, i ymuno â'i Phwyllgor Archwilio a Sicrhau Risg. Rolau cynghori am gyfnod penodol yw'r rhain i'r Comisiynydd. Yn ymarferol, mae rôl gynghori'r pwyllgor yn rhychwantu holl gylch gwaith y Comisiynydd, ac nid dim ond materion archwilio/cyllid.

Bydd disgwyl i’r berson a benodir ddarparu persbectif newydd, allanol i drafodaethau, yn ogystal â her adeiladol, annibynnol. Bydd y mewnbwn hwn yn helpu i sicrhau bod gwaith y Comisiynydd yn parhau i wneud Cymru yn lle da i dyfu’n hŷn, nid ar gyfer rhai pobl yn unig, ond ar gyfer pawb.

Dylai ymgeiswyr llwyddiannus allu dangos dealltwriaeth o lywodraethu corfforaethol a darparu gofal iechyd ym mhob sector iechyd. Byddant yn gallu meddwl yn strategol a bydd ganddynt sgiliau cyfathrebu a rhyngbersonol da.  Mae gwybodaeth am y materion sy'n effeithio ar bobl hŷn yng Nghymru heddiw yn hanfodol.

Mae modd cyflwyno ceisiadau yn Gymraeg, ni fydd cais a gyflwynir yn Gymraeg yn cael ei drin yn llai ffafriol na chais a gyflwynir yn Saesneg.
