A Buyer is required by an innovative market leader in the field of Scientific Instrumentation technology. This global company work on truly cutting edge equipment and due to growth want to hire a buyer to support their busy manufacturing team.
Role: Buyer
As Buyer you will be responsible for:
+ Placing orders with the approved suppliers
+ Progressing shortages daily and ensure information is available for Production meetings
+ Ensuring Open order reports are actioned each week and MRP system is updated
+ Holding regular meetings with key Suppliers to review KPIs
+ Other tasks expected to be carried out; including but not restricted to: solving Invoice queries, managing Return to Vendor stock, FAI's, Cost updates, lead time reviews, Service stocks and spot purchases
+ Executing Procurement processes ECO's, SCAR's, Purchase Requisitions etc
+ Developing commodity strategy for assigned commodities at the basic level for improvements
Experience:
As Buyer you will have experience of:
+ CIPS Foundation stage (or working towards)
+ Able to build effective relationships. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
+ Good PC skills including Microsoft Excel
+ MRP skills (ideally JD Edwards, SAP or Oracle)
+ Previous experience purchasing components in an engineering / production environment driven by challenging deadlines
+ Ideally - Familiar with a low volume, high value manufacturing environment
+ Strong communicator and negotiator and able to deliver under pressure
+ Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings would be advantageous
