Freight Forwarding / Logistics Trainee

This owner run forwarding company offers logistics solutions in the field of sea freight, air freight and project logistics. Founded in 1852 in Bremen, Germany, the family-owned company today employs more than 2,000 people at 140 trading locations in 31 countries.

They are looking for their future generation of freight forwarders and logistics specialists, and are offering Trainee positions at their Sale (Cheshire), Solihull (Birmingham) and Heathrow (London) locations.

The role will initially include basic freight forwarding training and administration, which will allow you to gradually develop, learn and grow into a freight forwarding or warehouse administration professional. As your experience and knowledge expands, under continued support and guidance, you will be encouraged to manage your own workload, using your own initiative and commercial acumen.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the office with general tasks
- Process basic export/import/warehouse documentation
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, by phone and email
- Learn pricing, negotiation, relationship building
- Gain an overall understanding of the freight forwarding sector

Requirements:
- Educated to a minimum GCSE standard including maths and English
- No industry knowledge required
- Good geographical knowledge
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Some previous work experience to demonstrate an understanding of customer service
