Conditions of service

Hours: 35 hours Monday to Friday with some flexibility needed to meet service requirements.

Holidays: 25 days per year plus public holidays, pro rata.

Aims

Service Delivery to Carers

1            To plan, organise and directly deliver the full range of support services to carers in Manchester to a high standard with other members of the team. Ensure we achieve great results and outcomes for carers that really make a positive difference to their lives and satisfy contractual targets from a range of stakeholders.

Reporting and quality assurance

2            To ensure we monitor and evaluate services that demonstrates our effectiveness through the production of regular quality service delivery reports to the CEO and financial supporters as necessary.

Marketing, networking and developmental work

3             To keep up to date and inform carers of developments of carer’s policy and general services offered in Manchester and be an ambassador for Manchester Carers Centre as required at meetings, profile and fundraise events and promotional and outreach activities.

Help publicise all our service activities and market and raise profile of Manchester Carers Centre.                                 

Roles and Responsibilities

Post-holder will carry out case work by providing information and advice, training, practical help and emotional support to individual carers and to groups. They will also make use of service outcomes measurement tools to help achieve and demonstrate measurable health and wellbeing outcomes for service users.    

To be responsible for the planning, day to day delivery of carers’ services, monitoring and regular weekly reporting on contracts and projects to high quality standards to the CEO and directly to funders as required.

Ensure effective use of service resources against competing demands and be able to multi-task and prioritise services.

Be a positive team player and work effectively with colleagues to ensure quality service delivery for all carers by contributing to team tasks as required to ensure effective day to day delivery. 

As a senior practitioner directly deliver services to carers both on a one-to one basis and in groups in a range of locations.

Be responsible for developing and maintaining both computerised and manual systems; ensuring that they are effective and accurate for monitoring services.

To maintain project budgets and records on all project and service expenditure to assist the Financial Officer and CEO.        

To implement our carer development policy and strategy to ensure carers are consulted and involved in decision making in regards to services and strategies. Be an effective ambassador for Manchester Carers Centre services at all times. Be able to make quality presentations to a range of stakeholders.   

Keep abreast of all service commitments and requirements. Responsible for achieving contract and project targets by creatively engaging and marketing our services to all target groups. Ensure that Manchester Carers Centre services are well publicised and a positive profile is well maintained.                                 

Keep abreast of wider Carers’ Services developments in Manchester. 

Market and network effectively through a range of methods including outreach, events, and presentations through our website and social media to identify new carers and attract carers in need of support to sustain them in their caring role where appropriate.        

             Build up positive links and network effectively with a range of professionals and organisations in Manchester, so that we are able signpost carers appropriately to other services if required.       

             Some premises and key-holding responsibilities and the ability to work flexibly with some unsociable hours as required.

General

 1       Be a positive team player and work effectively with colleagues to ensure quality service delivery for all carers by contributing to team tasks as required to ensure effective day to day delivery

2              Ensure health and safety practice, risk assessments, centre activities are compliant with our policies and legal advice and best practice so that all our outputs and activities are run safely for all.

3              Duties of all Carers Centre staff are periodically reviewed and may alter in line with service requirements in consultation with staff. It is expected that all members of staff are able to work independently, taking responsibility for their work areas as well as working well under direction. They are expected to have a flexible attitude to their work, which is often developmental, showing a willingness to adapt and evolve their role in line with organisational and service user needs and prioritise competing demands well.

4          Support all Manchester Carers Centre profile raising and promotional activities including fundraising as required.

5          To adhere to all Manchester Carers Centre policies and procedures.

6          To have full regard for equal opportunities and promoting non-discriminatory practice and accessibility in all aspects of service delivery.
