Our local client (Midsomer Norton area) is a fast growing, complicated, small company, which uses an infrastructure of computerised systems and websites as key resources. There is a multi-disciplinary, team approach to running and developing the business as processes often span several functional areas.

Reporting to:Operations Director
Responsible for:Managing and optimising multiple websites; digitalising and formatting marketing-originated creative content; network and website security.
Background
The company has several Wordpress websites that are a mix of e-commerce and information / web-presence sites. Currently these are managed externally and the main purpose of this role is to bring that management in-house. This is a new position with a broad remit and potential for career growth within an expanding business.

Key Responsibilities
1Website Strategy & Capability
Providing the thought leadership to the business on websites.
Contributing the website element to business planning and achieving business growth.
Taking responsibility for the website capability of the business.
2Website management and maintenance
Managing all website activity including:
website maintenance.
maintenance of functionality together with content integrity and correct appearance.
content management for SEO compliance.
management and updating of website plug-ins as new versions are released.
monitoring uptime and investigating downtime occurrences.
setting-up and checking of back-up and restore routines.
maintaining website security to minimise the risk of cyber-attacks.
conducting random audits of live site content.

3 Digital design and website content management
Digitising and formatting marketing-originated creative content so that it is presented appropriately for:
Standard web information pages
Outbound campaign landing pages
PR / Advertising
E-collateral
Managing website content as agreed with the Marketing Manager and/or other team members according to the website purpose.

4E-commerce shop management
Setting-up and maintaining website shops including updates to product descriptions, images and specifications including pricing.
Setting up and monitoring shop performance and provision of stock control and accounting data on products sold.

5Website optimisation
Setting up and using website management tools such as Google Analytic and Google Tag Manager to provide analytical data on website performance.

Working together with the Marketing Manager and Management Accountant to analyse website data, generate insights into website performance and to provide actionable information.

Optimisation of websites to drive web traffic, to generate enquiries and to maximise conversion within on-line shops.

6New website development
Creation of new Wordpress websites based on agreed concepts using mainly marketing-originated content. (Developing new websites is a multi-disciplinary activity with other team members.)

7Cyber Security
Managing cyber-security measures proactively to protect websites and internal infrastructure such as the internal file and exchange server.

8Help Wikis
Contributing to the design of Help Wikis and other web-based information tools.
Ensuring that the Wiki content is digitalised and formatted so that it is presented on-line in a user-friendly manner.
(The company currently has several Help Wikis that are used to provide information about system set-up and usage to the customer base.)

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Competencies

1Planning/Organisation.
The Webmaster must be able to prioritise work and activity, organise and schedule other people and their tasks and develop realistic project/action plans. End of month routines also need to be established and adhered to.

2Initiative
Make suggestions and/or take actions to reduce or mitigate risk. Asks for assistance when required. Able to contribute positively to related topics that fall outside the jobholder's remit.

3Report
Information such as website security, uptime and performance needs to be collated and reported to the senior management team on monthly basis.

Education
Degree level or equivalent in IT or Web Design
Experience
*3-5 year's experience in website management.
*Advanced experience in website content design.
*Experience in custom coding of Wordpress plug-ins, CSS, (X) HTML.
*Familiarity in browser testing and debugging.
*Knowledge in website security, back-up routines and maintenance.
