New opportunity not to be missed! Marlin Industries has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join the team at our Wrexham site. Joining us on a full time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £32,000 - £38,000 depending on experience.

The purpose of the Engineering Manager is to oversee the specifying, sourcing, installation and commissioning of plant and equipment required to support a continually developing product and service range. Routine maintenance and the performing/organising of repairs is a specific requirement to ensure as far as possible continuity in machine and equipment availability. The ability to recommend and implement mechanical and/or electrical improvements to improve operating characteristics or costs while satisfying customer demands is a further requirement of the function.
The function is required to work in line with the organisations’ Integrated Business Management Systems (IBMS) which is fully accredited to international Quality and Environmental standards BE EN ISO9001 and BS EN 14001
Key Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager
- Understanding of customer/commercial needs and the impact on production machinery and equipment requirements
- Coordinate and direct projects and plan to achieve goals
- Plan and direct installations along with the testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and facilities.
- The ability to work with specialist sub contractors
- Have a good knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements for plant and equipment
- Assign, direct and evaluate work to staff under them and oversee staff competence.
- Be able to develop systems and implement policies, standards and procedures for engineering works within their department
- Perform administrative functions such as writing reports, purchasing of materials, approving expenditure, enforcing rules and making decisions.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience required by the Engineering Manager
Essential
- HNC/HND electrical and/or mechanical engineering
- GCSE English and Maths
- Time management and organisational skills
- Health and safety legislation and related codes of practice and regulations
- Computer literate, with good knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel
- Driving licence
Desirable
- Previous experience of running an engineering department
- Knowledge of 5s and lean manufacturing principles
- Knowledge and experience of BS EN 9001, BS EN 14001
