Our client is one of the world’s largest suppliers of power systems and construction equipment. They are now seeking a Design Engineer to join their team in Cannock. 

This is the ideal role for a design engineer from a civil, mechanical or electrical background with great AutoCAD skills to take on a new challenge with a world leading company.

As a Design Engineer, you will join a team tasked with producing accurate design drawings and supporting documentation for civil, mechanical and electrical projects. 

Carrying out design, calculation and specification work, you will focus on build cost, design integrity, safety and maintenance aspects. 

You will work alongside Project Engineers to interpret customers’ specs, assess fitness for purpose within budget and record and document the design review and other quality processes. 

Specifically, your role will involve: 

- Preparing designs and drawings for customer installations 
- Designing and developing components, finished assemblies and site layouts 
- Liaising with third parties regarding procurement for engine drawings and turnkey layout designs 
- Working with Project Engineers, Site Engineers and Sales staff regarding project specification and designs 
- Working with the Design Office Manager to implement design procedures and controls 
- Backing up data on the CAD server, managing the database and completing drawing control activities 

Interested? If so, you will need: 

- At least five years’ experience with AutoCAD 
- 3D drawing and/or modelling experience 
- Design experience in civil, mechanical or electrical, including use of calculative methods
- Experience of the following: PTC Creo, Windchill, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD 
- Knowledge of the ISO 9000:2000 quality system 
- Design Office training 
- An engineering degree (or equivalent) 

Confident and communicative, as a Design Engineer, you’ll need to be able to solve problems, work well as part of a team and on your own initiative and speak with clients as required. 

Experience with Revit or BIM would be beneficial to your application.
