An exciting opportunity exists at the College's Flex Fitness Gym. As an apprentice you will work to obtain the skills, knowledge and experience to work successfully within a gym / recreational environment. The role will involve a range of duties including gym upkeep, supervision and the promotion of gym and Fitness activity. There are opportunities to design and implement training programmes for a range of clientele, the successful applicants will also get some fantastic experience as they shadow the Health and Fitness Manger and work with the athletes in the North East Sports Academy.

The successful applicant will benefit from working in a positive and dynamic environment with colleagues who have a strong reputation both within the College and externally. A mentor will be allocated to provide support and guidance and development activities incorporated as part of a holistic package.

The successful applicant will be expected to work on a shift rota basis, although they will normally be working alongside other established members of staff during essentially normally working hours.   The successful applicants will study a Level 3 NVQ Diploma as well as working towards a Level 3 Certificate in Fitness Instruction.  There will also be a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities in the area of exercise and fitness instruction and the successful applicant can expect to proactively contribute to their own development.

The successful applicants will have a positive and outgoing personality, who can engage with a range of customers. The ability to work in a team and to be pro-active and show initiative in supporting the fitness and sporting activities at the College are vital.

Any offer of employment will be subject to the receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service
