Part time Careers Coordinator - Independent Catholic Co-Educational 11-18 Day School

£31,200 pro rata + Benefits


Starting January 2017 - 15 hours per week for 35 weeks (term time) + 2 weeks during school holidays.

We wish to appoint a person who will bring energy and enthusiasm to the role and inspire pupils to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will be ideally qualified in, or prepared to work towards, relevant careers qualifications and have the knowledge and experience of providing a range of effective opportunities for careers advice and guidance.

+ Ability to maintain appropriate and supportive relationships with children and staff

+ Commitment to, or evidence of, continuing relevant professional development in Careers Guidance
+ Have an awareness of the range of pathways into Further and Higher Education and employment
+ Awareness of the statutory requirements for Careers Education in schools
+ Willingness to undertake continuing own professional development to ensure that accurate, impartial advice is available to pupils
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, communicating effectively with a range of groups and individuals including students, parents, employers and staff
+ Ability to speak to an audience of parents and pupils about the Careers Programme at Information Evenings
+ Ability to advise on and understand the full range of career and learning options for students from Year 7 to 13
+ High standards of literacy and numeracy
+ Ability to command respect of children and staff
+ Good organisational skills
+ Ability to work with the minimum of supervision and self-motivated
+ Knowledge, understanding and competence in ICT and full Microsoft Office

Desirable:

+ Diploma in Careers Guidance or NVQ level 4 in Careers Guidance
+ Experience of working with young people in an educational setting
+ Awareness of the requirements for specific career paths for professions such as Medicine, Veterinary etc.
