Job Title: Tax Manager
Location: Bury St Edmunds, (Travel to other offices may be required)
Contract Type: Permanent/Part Time - 3 days per week
Our client in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Tax Manager to join its team. As a Tax Manager you will play an integral port of the Tax and Trust Team. You will be required to provide high level tax advice to all clients.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
Personal Taxation
Completion of Personal Tax returns
Monitoring completion of returns to ensure deadlines are met
Managing Tax Payments
Completion of and assisting colleagues with income tax and capital gains tax compliance and completion of the deceased's lifetime tad to the date of death and during the administration of Estates
Providing advice and assisting clients with the queries referred by the other teams
Dealing with all tax queries from Overseas clients to include Domicile and Residency issues
General Duties
To keep all necessary records for the conduct of the matters and files
Actively take part in business development on behalf of the team and the Firm
To maintain each client file in a proper manner in accordance with the requirements of the Firm to comply with the Law Society and ISO
To arrange appointments and interview clients and others where necessary
To liaise with the clients either directly, face to face or by telephone and deal with any queries relevant to the client
To maintain accurate Time Recording records in accordance with the Firm's policy
To maintain the Clients Account in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and in liaison with Accounts/Finance department
To maintain an efficient diary system using Outlook/Solace highlighting milestone dates on each matter
To use bring forward systems in Peppermint
To ensure all letters, forms, paperwork and communication are completed acc To maintain filing system in an orderly manner
To ensure all files are opened and closed correctly
Complete and follow up all documents in relation to accounts, cheque requisitions and banking for client matters
To carry out additional duties to assist the department including business development and marketing initiatives
To comply with Firm's policies and procedures
Flexibility is required in order to support the Lifetime Planning team and carry out any reasonable duties as may be directed by the Partners or Management of the Firm
To be a successful Tax Manager you will have the following skills and experience:
ATT/CIOT qualification or other tax qualification an advantage
A-Levels or equivalent
Experience in personal taxation, to include Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax
Knowledge of Taxation of Non-Residents Owning UK Assets
Understanding of Principals of Estate Administration and Trusts and their impact on personal taxation
Knowledge of reporting requirements of HMRC and deadlines applying
IT literate - Sound working knowledge of Microsoft office, Word and Excel and Tax Software
Flexible approach to work
Good planning, organisation and time management
Excellent internal and external client focus
Well-develop interpersonal skills
Excellent team playing skills
Good attention to detail
Sound written and oral communication including excellent telephone manner
Proactive/Analytical
Ability to work within tight timeframes and to meet deadlines
Good personal/work organisation
Experience of line management desirable
Ability to use initiative
