At the Department for Education, we are offering you the opportunity to support the implementation of the latest cyber security techniques to transform how we protect the data of millions of children and our GBP60 billion payment systems About us There has never been a more exciting time to work in Government, especially here at the Department for Education (DfE). With us you will have the chance to make a real and tangible difference to the country's educational landscape and the lives of thousands of children and young people. Our Department is responsible for education, children's social services, higher and further education policy, apprenticeships and wider skills in England, and equalities. We work to achieve a highly educated society in which opportunity is equal for all, no matter your background or family circumstances. At DfE we have recognised how vital our digital, data and technology services are to supporting all the work we do, and the security of the vast amounts of information we hold is of the highest importance. Your role We will rely on you to raise awareness of security best practice principles and information security. You will support our Security Manager in examining controls, transactions, data patterns and trends in the payment activities of The Funding Agencies Shared Services Team (FASST). At GBP60bn, FASST's payment operations are among the largest, by value, in the UK public sector. It provides digital, technological and data services for our state and further education agencies. You will help to monitor the framework within which its payments are securely conducted. Colleagues throughout FASST and its customers will come to you with queries about information security. Your credentials To join us, you will need proven experience with accrediting systems. Ideally, you will be a CSEG Certified Professional (Accreditor or Information Risk Advisor) to Practitioner level. You will certainly demonstrate a broad knowledge and understanding of IT and security concepts, with a particular flair for recognising patterns and trends in a wide range of evidence. All of this gives you the ability to make sound decisions and overcome challenges through robust analysis. It is your communication skills which really set you apart. A strong team player, you communicate clearly with team members, other analysts, non-technical colleagues and stakeholders alike. Crucially, you are a quick learner with natural curiosity.
